Insider Reveals Truth on Why New Hampshire Defunded American Library Association

An insider has revealed the truth on why the state of New Hampshire dropped out of the American Library Association.  I have permission to republish.  Here is the original story:

New Hampshire Defunds the American Library Association

A Very Newsworthy Story

A recent article on the New Hampshire Public Radio (NHPR) website regarding Governor Sununu’s withdrawal of his state librarian nominee confirms that the previous state librarian withdrew the New Hamphire State Library (NHSL) from the American Library Association this year.  While the reason given for this withdrawal was that “the yearly dues were not worth what the association provided,” there is more to this story.

Last February, as a New Hampshire State Representative and a librarian opposed to the ALA’s agenda, I wrote the letter below to Sarah Stewart, the Commissioner of the New Hampshire Department of Natural and Cultural Resources that oversees the NHSL.  This letter was co-signed by 100 other state representatives who shared my opposition.  Along with fellow Representative Mike Drago (Raymond, NH), I met with Commissioner Stewart and State Librarian Michael York at the State House.  We explained the reasons for withdrawing from the ALA as detailed in the letter that I presented to Commissioner Stewart at the end of our meeting.  It appears that our demands were heeded and that New Hampshire has joined the growing list of states that has defunded the ALA!

Here is the text of my letter:

29 February 2024

Dear Commissioner Stewart,

Recently, a bill that sought to prohibit egregiously obscene materials from being included in public school library collections (HB1419) failed on the House floor.  Rather than just trying to pass legislation to remove such books, however, perhaps we should be asking how these books get on school library shelves in the first place.  For example, how did such a notoriously inappropriate book as Gender Queer ever get into numerous school libraries in New Hampshire to begin with?  Part of the reason is likely the glowing review that appeared in the American Library Association’s publication Booklist, in which the reviewer gushed, “Highly recommended reading for those on their own journey of exploration or those supporting the explorers in their own lives.”  In addition to the ALA’s stellar review of Gender Queer, this infamous graphic novel also won the 2020 ALA Stonewall Award, which annually recognizes books on LGBTQ+ themes, as well as one of its Alex Awards which are given to adult titles that “have special appeal to young adults, ages 12 through 18.”  The ALA gives out numerous other awards each year that disproportionately honor and publicize books on racial and sexual themes, while its review source Booklist similarly celebrates such books.  Meanwhile, Deborah Caldwell-Stone, the Director of ALA’s “Office for Intellectual Freedom,” who has worked for the ALA for almost a quarter century, recently admitted to carrying out a “sustained messaging” program to “reframe” and “promote” inappropriate books especially on sexual themes as “diverse materials ...that are about inclusion and fairness.”

The American Library Association is clearly a political organization far more than a professional one.  Its political agenda is further reflected in the “professional” literature it publishes for librarians and library staff.  In a recent ALA Publishing catalog, the vast majority of the books included were on topics such as EDISJ (“equity, diversity, inclusion, and social justice”), “cultural humility," and so-called “book banning.”  The ALA has clearly revealed its liberal agenda that seeks to undermine parental authority and destroy the family.  To quote its own website, it “opposes all attempts to restrict access to library services, materials, and facilities based on the age of library users.”  It promotes and defends “drag queen story hours” by providing resources on its website for librarians to use when patrons object to these events.

The American Library Association, as those who follow the news regarding this organization already know, currently has a self-proclaimed Marxist, Emily Drabinski, as a president this year.  While she will be replaced next year by a new elected leader, this will not stop the ALA from promoting its insidious agenda.  Because Drabinski is merely a symptom of the ALA agenda rather than its cause, the next president will likely espouse similar views.  The ALA also has around three hundred permanent employees, many of whom support the agenda that has been promulgated by their employer for years, most notably the aforementioned lawyer, Deborah Caldwell-Stone.  The ALA’s connections with the infamous George Soros also reveal its long-standing political agenda.  In 1997, Soros was awarded the ALA’s James Madison Award, which honors individuals “who have championed, protected and promoted public access to government information,” and in 2008, his organization, Open Society, gave the ALA a $350,000 “seed grant.”  The ALA’s egregious agenda obviously started long before Emily Drabinski became president and will continue after her departure; she merely exposed it for all to see, especially last September when she asserted at the Socialism 2023 conference that public schools and libraries need to become “sites of socialist organizing”!

The American Library Association, like many organizations, offers discounts on products and provides a variety of services to its members.  Some supporters might argue that these socalled “benefits” justify the small amount that the New Hampshire State Library pays in dues each year for membership.  In light of the organization's true agenda, however, this argument falls flat because membership is ultimately injurious rather than beneficial.  If the state library discontinues its membership with the ALA, as we believe it should, it may technically only save a few thousand dollars, but this action will send a clear message to library trustees and school boards throughout the state that they don’t need to support the ALA and that, in fact, they should not.  If New Hampshire cuts its ties with the ALA, as Montana, Texas, Alabama, Missouri, South Carolina, and Florida have already done, this will send an even stronger message to the entire country that this pernicious organization needs to be defunded.

The American Library Association, a political organization that clearly promotes principles that are toxic to our republic, is truly an enemy of our state, and we believe that any support of this organization with taxpayer dollars must stop immediately.  Following the withdrawal of Texas last August from the ALA, State Representative Brian Harrison wrote in a letter to all Republican governors, “By sending tax dollars to the ALA, you are forcing your constituents’ money to be weaponized against them, their values, and their children.”  To prevent our constituents’ tax dollars from being used to attack our state, we, the undersigned representatives of the General Court demand that you, as Commissioner of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, which oversees the New Hampshire State Library, order the NHSL to cut all financial ties with the American Library Association.

Respectfully, Rep. Arlene Quaratiello and 100 fellow members of the New Hampshire House of Representatives (some of whom agreed to sign this letter as long as their names were not made public which is why I have not included the names of the signers here).

The Ghost of Judith Krug Continues to Haunt America's Libraries Today

ORLAND PARK, IL. (ECWd) - The Orland Park Public Library has been fighting for seven months now to maintain its status quo, where child porn is accessible over the Library’s unsecured internet for pedophiles and predators who know where to find it.  This horror was discovered back in October of last year, when internal incident reports completed by Library staffers and obtained through FOIA requests showed that child porn was accessed in the Library, but employees never called the police, never reported the act to the FBI, and the Board of Trustees never lifted a finger to make sure that this access point to child porn in the southwestern suburbs of Chicago was permanently closed.

In addition to the child porn being accessed in this library, the internal incident reports produced under FOIA pressure also showed instances of men openly masturbating in the Library, men accosting women and children sexually, and many other times when people using computers in this Library committed acts of disorderly conduct that warranted police involvement (yet, Library staff deliberately chose not to call the police!).  An official investigation by the Orland Park Police Department that was conducted in November of 2013 determined that there were at least 22 instances of crimes committed in the Orland Park Public Library that Library staff did not handle properly, with most of these involving women and children accosted by men who had aroused themselves sexually in the Library using its anonymous, unfiltered Internet.

For point of reference, businesses like Starbucks or Kinko’s filter their Internet to block access to sites providing child porn (and instantly call the police if anyone is observed masturbating or accosting women or children in those businesses) but the Orland Park Public Library (OPPL) refuses to do this, citing the policy of the American Library Association (ALA) in keeping child porn accessible and “respecting patron privacy” (even when the “patron” in question is seen breaking the law by viewing, downloading, or distributing child porn!) .

The irony here is that though Village of Orland Park ordinance 8-6-1-1 requires Library staffers to call the police and report a crime when lewd and disturbing acts like open public masturbation occur in the Library, the Library staff chooses to look the other way and enable this criminal activity because the OPPL is run by a Director and Board who are true believers in the preachings of the American Library Association (which just happens to be a radical group funded largely by people like George Soros that sees its main purpose as “transforming communities by transforming libraries”).

The ALA says that child porn is “information” and all such “information” must be available to any person, of any age, with no filters on library computers.  The Supreme Court of the United States, however, ruled in 2003 in the landmark case US vs. ALA that public libraries are allowed to use filtering software to prevent horrors like child porn from being accessed in public libraries.  The Orland Park Public Library is, unfortunately, one of a minority of libraries in this country that listens to the ALA instead of the residents of its surrounding community: most libraries block child porn from being accessed, but the Orland Park Public Library’s Board of Trustees refuses to do this very simple thing to protect children from harm in this library and to shutdown an access point to child porn that attracts sex offenders.  Because of the unsecured, anonymous internet available no-questions-asked in public libraries, criminals know these buildings are places they can evade law enforcement and do whatever they like with little chance of being caught.

The Orland Park Police Department has reported that known sex offenders in the area have been regularly spotted in the OPPL, using the Library’s computers as well as tablets and other mobile devices to anonymously log onto the Internet.  These men are banned from using the internet or computers and the terms of most of their paroles state that they must not be within 500 feet of a school or other place where children congregate.  Yet, they are allowed into the Orland Park Public Library by its Director, Mary Weimar, where these men can evade their parole officers and log onto the Library’s computers and internet any time they want.  This particular Library chooses to use a program called Drive Shield every night to wipe every computer in the building clean (so that authorities can never go back and check what was accessed or downloaded in this public library). Criminals know this and use the Orland Park Public Library as a safe haven for their crimes.

Think of a public library as being a kind of extradition-free zone where cyber criminals of all stripes have automatic sanctuary: library staff will look the other way in places like the OPPL

Judith Krug
The ALA has known for years that this has been happening and they encourage this sort of thing in libraries across the country. You should know that a woman named Judith Krug, the former head of the ALA’s Orwellian-sounding “Office of Intellectual Freedom” said after 9/11 that she hated that some libraries cooperated with the FBI after the terrorist attacks, when the feds were investigating if these libraries were used as access points for terrorist activity over the anonymous, unsecured internet there.

Judith Krug is the woman who encouraged libraries like the OPPL to invest in Drive Shield (to wipe computer records clean nightly so that terrorists and pedophiles can never be caught) but fight the installation of child porn filters (which would end the days of public libraries being used as access points for illegal material).  Though deceased, the ghost of Judith Krug continues to haunt America’s libraries today.  The OPPL certainly seems to need an exorcism to get rid of her influence.

In their prolonged battle to keep child porn accessible in the OPPL, the Board of Trustees has repeatedly violated both the Open Meetings Act and the Freedom of Information Act.  The OMA violations have involved the Board: silencing critics by refusing public comment on topics critical of the Library (January 20th); violating its own rules and shoving public comment to the back of a meeting so most people will leave before Public Comment is allowed (January 20th); holding a surprise special meeting on a legal holiday to ram through a vote on keeping the child porn available when the public wasn’t looking (February 12th); refusing Public Comment altogether at an open meeting (February 12th); improperly voting to “ratify and affirm” agenda items for final action that were void ab initio (“from the beginning“) because they were originally voted on at an illegal meeting (March 17th); allowing a woman who was never legally appointed to the Board to vote at Board meetings (February 12th, February 17th, March 17th, April 21st, and May 19th); inventing new arbitrary and extemporaneous speaking rules meant to discourage public comment (April 21st); and holding a secret “strategy session” before their Open Meeting for the purpose of plotting ways to stage a disruption of their own meeting so that they could invent an excuse to call the police on their critics as revenge for all the recent complaints against them with the Public Access Counselor (May 19th).

Since October of 2013 (when it was first uncovered that child porn was accessed in the OPPL and the staff chose not to call the police and handle the situation properly), around 30 requests for review were filed by various members of the public against the OPPL with the PAC office for OMA and FOIA violations.  The January and February Board meetings were determined to have been conducted improperly and the OPPL is facing several important determinations regarding the March, April, and May meetings in the weeks ahead.  Some of the matters that the PAC is currently investigating (with decisions coming down soon) are:

* the illegal vote taken on February 12th to continue allowing child porn to be accessed in the OPPL = this vote is void ab initio because the February 12th meeting was held improperly on a legal holiday and, thus, everything done on that day is void; the OPPL created a huge mess for itself by ramming through a vote on seven controversial items and installing a new Board member on a day they were not allowed by law to hold a meeting.

* in a related matter, on March 17th the OPPL voted to “ratify and affirm” everything void ab initio that was done at the illegal February 12th meeting, but the OMA requires that recital and deliberation be performed at an Open Meeting before a vote can be taken on an agenda item; since everything the Board did on February 12th was done improperly and no proper recital and deliberation was performed for anything the Board voted to “ratify and affirm” on March 17th, that means that none of the controversial matters (including voting to keep child porn available) were properly handled.

* the PAC is expected to determine that a new vote must be taken on the policies that continue to allow child porn to be accessed at the OPPL, since the February 12th vote (at an illegal meeting) and the March 17th “vote to ratify and affirm” (without proper recital and deliberation) were both bungled

* part of the chaos the Board caused by holding that illegal special meeting on February 12th is the fact that one OPPL Board Member, Beth Gierach, has never been legally appointed or properly sworn-in…and yet the Board continues to seat her and allows her to vote month after month; this means all votes she took in February, March, April, and May should be voided since she was not a properly appointed Board member at the time of those votes.

Judith Krug mocking United States
Attorney General John Ashcroft
The February 12th illegal meeting that the OPPL held was clearly a gambit this Board played to force a vote to continue allowing access to child porn and other evils in this Library on a day that was inconvenient to the public.  Also, this Board was advised by the lawyers of Klein Thorpe Jenkins that if it held a vote on the child porn issue in a special meeting (not a regular board meeting) that the Board would not have to allow public comment at that meeting.  The OPPL was advised in particular by Dennis G. Walsh of the KTJ firm that it could vote on February 12th and prohibit public comment, thereby giving Board members cover to vote to keep child porn accessible without the public being able to shame these cowards for voting the way that the ALA directed them to vote.

The OMA does not allow a Board to prevent public comment at any Open Meeting and all votes for final action must be made in Open Meetings.  This means that no vote on any matter for final action can be taken at a meeting where public comment is not permitted.

The OMA also does not allow a vote for final action on an item to be taken if proper recital and deliberation is not performed for that agenda item…and, once again, recital and deliberation must be performed at a meeting that is open to the public (where public comment is allowed).  This clearly means that a Board cannot on March 17th “ratify and affirm actions it took on February 12th when that February 12th meeting was not a properly held Open Meeting. Proper recital and deliberation needed to have been conducted at the March 17th meeting for any agenda items to have been voted on for final action…as everything done on February 12th was void ab initio,

What a head-spinning mess this Board has made in its increasingly more desperate attempt to keep child porn accessible in a gorgeous, spare-no-expense architectural gem of a library in an upscale Chicago suburb.

Behind the scenes, the real power play at issue here is that the American Library Association cannot afford to allow a plum like the OPPL to shut off the child porn access, since the ALA is based in Chicago and fears losing control of another public facility.  Currently, the ALA in effect controls the OPPL, via the OPPL’s Director Mary Weimar (who is a committed acolyte of the ALA). If the OPPL Board of Trustees voted against the ALA and stopped allowing itself to be an access point to child pornography this would be a clear repudiation of the ALA’s “guidelines” for libraries…and would diminish the ALA’s clout.

The fear in the ALA’s offices is that if the OPPL votes to block the child porn then other libraries in Chicago could follow…and if that happens then the ALA’s entire house of cards could tumble.

This is why every effort imaginable is now being undertaken by the OPPL’s Board of Trustees to violate the OMA and FOIA in our State to thwart the public’s demand that child porn be permanently blocked in this Library.

Also, see Kevin DuJan's latest filing with the Illinois Attorney General, linked below.  It happens to feature me as Kevin DuJan was threatened with arrest for speaking up for my right to speak, but it is also a detailed description of planning for and committing white collar crime by the Orland Park Public Library board and its attorneys.  It's really an eye opener, all to defend child pornography, and the police are eventually called by the library to further harass those trying to stop the child porn:

The ghost of Illinois ACLU board member and ALA de facto leader Judith Krug continues to haunt America's libraries today.  In Orland Park, both of her successors (Deborah Caldwell-Stone and Barbara Jones) are actively involved in the deception and the criminality.  As I pointed out in the past, Tom Lehrer's "Smut!" is ALA's anthem.  As Jim Kraft points out, "The OPPL certainly seems to need an exorcism to get rid of her influence."

ObamaCare Pushing Librarians Out of Work; What Goes Around Comes Around

As a direct result of ObamaCare, librarians in Brevard County, FL, may be losing their hours:
  • "Brevard County to Cut Back Hours for Some Part-Time Employees," by Bob Opsahl and Melonie Holt, WFTV 9, 23 July 2013 (hyperlink omitted):
Brevard County has over 300 part-time workers, many of whom are in the library and parks systems.

While officials don't necessarily want to reduce hours for those employees, they'll be forced to unless the county wants to pay for full-time health benefits.

Librarians had been ordered by the American Library Association [ALA] to push ObamaCare, that is until it cut back on the severity of its message to make it appear optional after librarian push back, as only I reported, and the self-arrogated censorship police voluntarily agreed to suppress President Obama's speech to #ALA2013 and the video has not yet been made available:

ObamaCare is a larger invasion of privacy than the National Security Agency [NSA] scandal:

Although ObamaCare is a worse invader of privacy than the NSA, ALA is exhorting people to oppose NSA on privacy grounds:
  • "Ask Your Representative to Vote YES on Amash Amendment," by Action Alert, American Library Association, 23 July 2013:
On Wednesday, July 24, the U.S. House of Representatives will vote on the Defense Appropriations Bill (H.R. 2397).

Rep. Justin Amash (R-MI) has introduced an amendment to the bill that would stop funding for the NSA's warrantless surveillance programs.

Please ask your Representative to vote YES on the Amash amendment.  This amendment is a strong vote against the NSA's warrantless surveillance programs and bulk metadata collection.

Click "Call Now" for calling information and talking points.
  • "Act Now: Support the Amash Amendment to Stop Funding NSA Surveillance," by Jazzy Wright, American Library Association, 23 July 2013.
  • "Act Now: Support the Amash Amendment to Stop Funding NSA Surveillance," by Choose Privacy Week, American Library Association, 23 July 2013.   [In full disclosure, Choose Privacy Week has a single major donor who paid for and enabled the work the ALA does to give the impression ALA cares about privacy while promoting Open Society Institute messages the public would not otherwise accept.  That person is George Soros.  See "Know the ALA" for details.  The Choose Privacy Week site is basically a wholly owned subsidiary of the Open Society Institute, though it is not promoted as such.]
  • "FTRF, ALA Join Efforts to Protect Privacy and Increase Transparency Around Surveillance," by American Library Association's Office for Intellectual Freedom, OIF Blog, 18 July 2013.

As to Brevard County, its library already bowed down to the ALA's demand to allow pornography into its public libraries:

Now it is bowing to the ALA again, this time on ObamaCare:

So librarian hours are being shrunk by ObamaCare, the so-named Affordable Care Act.  Not for Brevard County librarians it's not affordable.  They supported ALA's porn push and more recently ALA's ObamaCare push, and now they may lose work and medical benefits as a direct result.  Sad to say, but what goes around comes around.

Opposing FISA is the American Library Association's Latest Directive, on September 11, No Less

The American Library Association's [ALA] latest directive is to oppose FISA and its means to help prevent further terror attacks in the USA.  The ALA directive was made on September 11th, the eleventh anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks.  It uses paranoid scare tactics to motivate people to act, such as: "Watch what you say and do on your phones, emails and other communications":
Oppose H.R. 5949, the FISA Amendments Act (FAA) Reauthorization Act of 2012
Posted on September 11, 2012 by Lynne Bradley
URGENT:  September 13th vote pending in the House on FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act)

ACTIVISTS:  Use our legislative action center to send messages to House members opposing H.R. 5949, the FISA Amendments Act (FAA) Reauthorization Act of 2012 or call your congressional representative now!

The message to all House members:  Oppose H.R. 5949 the FISA Amendments Act Reauthorization Act of 2012, H.R. 5949.  Protect Americans’ privacy and constitutional rights.  Do not extend the FAA sunset until December 31, 2017.

ALA asks library supporters to ask the House to oppose this latest attempt to reauthorize the FAA.  Unexpectedly, a quick vote on H.R. 5949, is scheduled for this Thursday, September 13th.

BACKGROUND:  It’s déjà vu all over again: Watch what you say and do on your phones, emails and other communications because, once again, the House of Representatives appears ready to reauthorize the 2008 FAA law that legalized the Bush administration’s warrantless wiretapping program and more.  The American public, including our library patrons, will continue to be exposed to needless surveillance under this reauthorization.

The FISA Amendments Act Reauthorization Act of 2012, H.R. 5949, (yes, this is the correct name of the bill and the law) would extend the provisions of the 2008 FAA to December 31, 2017, rather than letting the FISA sunset on December 31, 2012.  The government is allowed to get 12-month orders from the secret FISA court to conduct “dragnet surveillance of Americans’ international communications—including phone calls, emails, and internet records—for the purpose of collecting foreign intelligence.” *

As we did in 2008, the American Library Association (ALA) continues to argue against the FISA Amendments Act because of the FAA’s lack of transparency and the potential for abuse of the system that has been created.

....

* From the ACLU Washington Legislative Office web site where additional details are available: ACLU’s Washington Markup.

Furthermore, the ALA literally joined as co-signer with the Council on American-Islamic Relations [CAIR] to oppose FISA in the past:

By contrast with ALA, the Obama Administration supports FAA:
  • "President Pushes to Extend Surveillance Law," by Siobhan Gorman, Wall Street Journal, 11 September 2012:
The Obama administration is lobbying for renewal of a controversial 2008 surveillance law, warning that the U.S. would lose a critical intelligence-collection tool if Congress allows the measure to expire at year's end.

As President Barack Obama emphasizes his national-security record in his re-election campaign, he's facing strong resistance from some lawmakers who say the law lacks sufficient privacy protections.

The Republican-dominated House is expected as soon as Wednesday to pass the bill, which would extend the law for five years.  But its fate is less clear in the Senate, where Sen. Ron Wyden (D, Ore.) is blocking Senate consideration, ...
  • "FISA Fight; Congressional Vote to Reauthorize Surveillance Program Highlights Administration Reversals on Spying, Transparency," by CJ Ciaramella, Washington Free Beacon, 12 September 2012.

Do people realize George Soros is funding the ALA to shill for his own interests in support of terrorists?  Do people realize as self-arrogated "censorship" police, the ALA joined with CAIR to use pro-terrorist censorship to censor Robert Spencer, but parents keeping inappropriate material from children being "censorship" is the message of ALA's "Banned Books Week"?  Do people realize the ALA joined CAIR to oppose radicalization hearings?  And wasn't ALA uncharacteristically silent as terrorists destroyed a famous library in Timbuktu, Mali?

What does any of this have to do with librarianship, the proclaimed mission of the ALA?  Is the ALA in your community library having any influence at all?  Is it okay that a terrorist-friendly organization has influence over your local community library and local school library?

Has ALA political capital just been further attenuated by once again lining up on the losing side of yet another non-library matter?

While it is legitimate to oppose FISA, the ALA that supports terrorists remains true to form.  On September 11, no less.  On the day the U.S. Ambassador to Libya is killed.  On the day the U.S. Embassy in Egypt is attacked and destroyed.  Will ALA members do nothing about this?

The Third Jihad: Radical Islam's Vision for America was used by the NYPD for counterterrorism training.  The ALA is part of the problem described therein when it works with CAIR to censor perceived/presumed opposition such as Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch, uses Soros funding to support Soros/CAIR's interests, or directly joins with CAIR to oppose national security interests having nothing to do with librarianship.

Oh, for the people shocked to hear the ALA supports terrorists, here's one more example, showing the ALA wished library patron privacy laws had protected a 9/11 terrorist from being reported to the police:
  • "A Nation Challenged: Questions of Confidentiality; Competing Principles Leave Some Professionals Debating Responsibility to Government," by David E. Rosenbaum, The New York Times, 23 November 2001:
When the names and photographs were first released, Kathleen Hensman, a public librarian in Delray Beach, Fla., recognized some of the suspected hijackers in the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon as men who had used the computers in her small library.

    She immediately called the police.

That broke a Florida law that guarantees confidentiality to library patrons.  It also violated a cardinal principle of librarians never to tell the police, in absence of a court order, about who uses their rooms and what books they check out.

But almost no one thinks Ms. Hensman did the wrong thing.  Of course, she will not be prosecuted.

    ....

Judith Krug, director of the American Library Association's office of intellectual freedom, said, "I would have felt better if she had followed the Florida law."

ALA has a lot of positive influence in our communities.  However, let's get the negative influence of the ALA's "Office for Intellectual Freedom" out of our public libraries, out of our school libraries, and out of our minds.  Its actions do not warrant our blind acquiescence.

Open Borders and Illegal Immigration Support is the American Library Association's Latest Non-Library Venture; Welcome to Choose Privacy Week

Open borders and illegal immigration support is the American Library Association's [ALA] latest non-library venture, thanks to George Soros:

I am quoted extensively in this article about the ALA's new venture into illegal alien support:

Kleinman asked of the grant from Soros and the video production, "Why is the American Library Association prostituting itself out to the likes of George Soros to issue propaganda for him and his message on topics that are not a library issue?"

He added, "The video is clearly promoting an end to illegal immigration enforcement, to usher in an era of open borders.  What do open borders have to do with libraries?"

....

He added, "The bottom line is this.  The ALA has expanded its mission to promote causes that have nothing to do with librarianship – and that's concerning."

The ALA did not respond to a WND request for comment.

If you are a librarian and you are learning for the first time that the ALA is promoting open borders propaganda in exchange for large sums of money, how are you not wondering how the ALA has wandered so far from its mission?  Welcome to "Choose Privacy Week."

Here's one way to oppose the ALA on this issue:

Illegal Immigration: "It's a Crime."

ALA Enables Soros to Indoctrinate Children and Communities Nationwide in a Manner that Threatens Freedom of Speech

Open Society Institute logo.
The American Library Association is enabling noted "open society" advocate George Soros to indoctrinate or propagandize children, media, and communities nationwide in a manner that furthers Soros organizations's efforts to curtail freedom of speech:
"Today the American Library Association (ALA) unveils a new campaign to engage librarians, journalists, news ethicists and students across the country in a news literacy education project.  The campaign, 'News Know-How,' is supported by the Open Society Foundations."
Source:

When I say "indoctrinate or propagandize," I mean it.  George Soros funded Media Matters for America [MMfA] has just been caught propagandizing America.  I mean control over major, well-known media individuals and outlets.  I mean writing the news as actually read on major network prime time news broadcasts.  I mean weekly coordination with political powers in control.  I mean having an enemies list of private individuals, politicians, and organizations, to hunt down, attack, then have removed from the airwaves.  Several media sources have lost their jobs as a result.  All this and more represents an unprecedented attack on the freedom of speech in the USA.

See for yourselves with these examples:

The ALA, the self-arrogated national freedom of speech police, could care less about accepting major donations from and acting on behalf of the person responsible for this curtailment of free speech that has already seen several voices removed from the airwaves, like Don Imus.  It is this person, George Soros, who funded MMfA and its massive curtailment of freedom of speech and associated control of American news outlets and national indoctrination.

It is this person funding the ALA so it can help "librarians, journalists, news ethicists and students across the country" to learn about "nonpartisan, critical analysis of news and information." It is this person who has bankrolled the perpetration of the greatest suppression of free speech in American history who will guide "high school students, with public libraries as their 'newsroom,' [on] how to distinguish facts from opinions; how to check the source and validity of news and information and how to identify propaganda and misinformation."

By the way, the Girl Scouts of America still has not explained how MMfA got published in one of its booklets for girls, even though the author revealed that she submitted her writing with Snopes, not MMfA, and had never heard before of MMfA:

What a coincidence!  Soros-funded MMfA uses an American institution, the Girl Scouts, to promote MMfA as a source to clear up "media misinformation," while the Soros-funded Open Society Foundations uses another American institution, the American Library Association, to teach communities and students "how to identify propaganda and misinformation."

You getting this?  Does anyone want to speak up about this before it's too late and free speech becomes impossible through the sheer weight of unfettered indoctrination?

I have written before about George Soros's control over the ALA, and it is not pretty.  See:

Noteworthy is that American Libraries, the ALA's monthly magazine, intentionally set this article in ALAnews, and only this one article, as the only one that will not allow people to add comments.  You will accept the Open Society Foundations's propagandizing "librarians, journalists, news ethicists and students across the country," and you will not be allowed to have any say whatsoever.  Remarkably, this run and hide strategy is the same one used by MMfA, also Soros funded!  See:
  • "David Brock Explains It All," by Vince CoglianeseThe Daily Caller, 21 February 2012.
  • "PICKET: (VIDEO) Media Matters' David Brock Runs From Questions on Organization's War on Fox," by Kerry Picket, The Washington Times, 21 February 2012:
Media Matters for America (MMFA) founder David Brock refused to talk to the Washington Times affiliated radio show America's Morning News on Tuesday morning about the series of stories The Daily Caller has been reporting on for the past week regarding his organization's aggressive plan to go after the Fox News Channel.

According to the Media Matters documents obtained by the Daily Caller, part of the 2012 strategy was to treat the cable news channel like a political opponent and hire private investigators to look into the personal lives of Fox News employees who work both on the air and behind the scenes.

The ultimate objective, according to the documents, for MMFA is to make the channel come off as an illegitimate news source to potential viewers who may have no opinion of Fox while pushing mainstream news outlets to treat the network as illegitimate as well.

Librarians, are any of you going to do something about this?  Communities, are you willing to learn about this so you can combat this?  Media members, do you realize what is happening to freedom of speech in the USA?

The American Library Association has become one more George Soros funded means to curtail freedom of speech in America.  The ALA may not see it that way, but huge amounts of money originating from Soros may have something to do with that. The ALA has lost all credibility on that issue that it ever may have had.

I call on the ALA to rethink its association with the greatest threat to American freedom of speech.

When the ALA tells your community about freedom of speech, such as in trying to stop local citizens or school boards from keeping children from reading inappropriate material, just keep this in mind.  The ALA has no credibility on freedom of speech while it is funded by and acting on behalf of the greatest threat to freedom of speech the USA has ever known, and in a manner designed to further spread freedom of speech abrogation.

"News Know-How" is really propaganda know-how.  Set a Google alert for it and watch as it creeps into your own communities.  Then speak out before it is too late.

News Know-How

Under the leadership of Barbara Jones, OIF's latest initiative is the News Know-How program,
supported by a grant from the Open Society Institutes.  This grant brings together journalists,
librarians, and high school students to discuss how to check facts and discern fact from opinion
in the news—from newspapers to radio to social media.  News Know-how draws from librarians'
expertise in information literacy in general.  This summer and autumn there will be programs in
Iowa, Chicago Public Library, Oak Park Public Library and Pratt Free Library (Baltimore).  For
more information, contact the Office for Intellectual Freedom (oif@ala.org).

Birmingham Needs Another MLK Moment; No Justice for Sexually Harassed Librarians

Martin Luther King
Jr. in Jail
Birmingham, AL, needs another MLK moment.  Martin Luther King, Jr., in his famous Letter From Birmingham Jail, 16 April 1963, said, "We must come to see, with one of our distinguished jurists, that 'justice too long delayed is justice denied.'"

Compare that with the Birmingham Public Library as led by Director Renee Blalock.  Justice is not only delayed, but it is simply absent.  For years.  And librarian after librarian suffers with no help from the library, the city, nor from the American Library Association [ALA].

Dr. Gina
Loudon
When I was offered a chance to speak to Birmingham, I jumped at the chance to get people there to wake up and restore justice where others have not.

I was interviewed by Dr. Gina Loudon on the "The Dr. Gina Show" on 101 WYDE FM.  Listen here for the specific information I provided Birmingham that also applies to many other communities whose libraries are infected by the ALA's anything-goes policy:
"If you don't like it leave."
Did Sandi Lee say that?
Imagine if you were repeatedly sexually harassed while on your job, you complained to your boss, and your boss said if you don't like it, you can leave.  Imagine if this happened to multiple employees over multiple years and no one did anything about the boss or the policy that allowed this.  Imagine if your employer repeatedly defrauded the federal government by submitting falsified documents and accepting ill-gotten gains.  Where's the justice?  How would you feel?

Just because it's a library, you get to get away with this?  The ALA sure thinks so.  As Cory Doctorow said at an ALA George Soros funded, "youth privacy" conference before advising the ALA to teach children to defy their parents, jailbreak devices, etc., "And frankly, you can't get say bad things about a librarian without sounding like kind of a jerk."  Does Birmingham think so?

I've written about Birmingham before—now it is time for the Birmingham community to consider what I said on the Dr. Gina Show then demand the truth, and justice for the librarians, not unlike the justice demanded in a Birmingham jail in 1963, almost 50 years ago.  Here are my previous posts on the topic:
If anyone wants my help or simply has questions about my opinions, please let me know.

If this were my community, I would not stand for this and I would insist my government take action to stop the library from acting outside the law.  The government's previous failure to act has led to the second incident and has left it exposed to potential escalating legal liability.  Does the library's adherence to ALA policy really intimidate you so much you will continue to allow the library to act outside the law?  What would MLK do?

NOTE ADDED 23 AUGUST 2011:

Thanks to me, the library community is starting to take note of the injustice in Birmingham and elsewhere, and this email resulted in hundreds of page visits:

"[lita-l] 2nd Federal 'Sexual Hostilities in Worplace' Lawsuit Filed by Library Workers," by LaVerne PoussaintDeepMed Library, 22 August 2011.

For the clueless [regarding ALA members attacking LaVerne and calling for censoring her: http://connect.ala.org/node/150744 - definitely an eye-opening read]:

Why are you still sending e-mails to me on civil discourse?

How has it transpired that my opposition to the crude and illegal fellatio uploads [to an ALA message board] now turns on the false fulcrum of my lack of "civility" and not upon a focus of the heterosexual male prerogative [yes, I must "go there"] which considered it suitable to penetrate and push pass the boundaries of professionalism in such a way?

I would not deign to upload a cunnilingus graphic on ALAConnect.  Why?  Because there should be boundaries.  My private propensities are mine alone - and those with whom I share particular pleasures.

The selfsame dynamic evidenced on ALAConnect is what has been now forced before the Bench and Bar.  The Library Foundations are now party to the suits as enablers and facilitators; those mandated with representing the interests of the library workers are defendants, not plaintiffs.

https://web.archive.org/web/20100911112509/http://www.theblaze.com/stories/librarian-suit-computer-porn-use-lead-to-groping-while-children-present/

Let us no longer pretend that this is about lack of my manners; there's something far more subtle and malicious going on here.

...And if you think what was written is lacking in civility, your ears would burn if you heard what I'm actually thinking.

Anti-American Indoctrination in Public Schools

Is there a liberal agenda indoctrinating children in public schools?  Are some public schools teaching anti-Americanism?  Are they teaching children to defy their parents or commit illegal acts?  Food for thought, hopefully representing a range of political thought:
"Analyze the major factors that drove United States imperialism."

Will the ALA Oppose Economic Terrorism? Stephen Lerner of the SEIU Spells Out Battle Plans Against America, a Perfect Non-Library Issue for the ALA to Sink Its Teeth Into

Click to watch:
"UNCUT TAPE: Former SEIU
Official Reveals Secret
Plan To Destroy
JP Morgan
"
The American Library Association [ALA] takes on many non-library issues, often with the excuse that library patrons or librarians are affected by the non-library issues.  Patrons, librarians, and libraries themselves will certainly be directly and negatively affected by the economic terrorism about to be unleashed on the United States, allegedly.

Will the ALA take a position against this?  Here are media reports of the words of people planning to bring an end to the American way of life as we know it:

MMfA Agrees:  Economic Terrorism
Even George Soros-supported Media Matters for America admits "[c]alling for strikes and civil disobedience is tantamount to 'economic terrorism'...."

Will the George Soros-supported ALA speak out against this economic terrorism to protect patrons, librarians, and libraries?  Let's look at other non-library issues the ALA addresses.  The ALA:

All this from a "library" association that, in reality, changed over 40 years ago with the influence of the ACLU—even ALA members can't stand the ALA's political tilt.  Anyone see a pattern?

I thought this would be a perfect non-library issue for the ALA to sink its teeth into, precisely because there will be no more libraries, no more ALA, if the economic terrorism succeeds as planned.  Anyone think the ALA will oppose economic terrorism?

NOTE ADDED 23 MARCH 2011:

See also: "Steve Lerner's Plan," by Ezra Klein, The Washington Post, 23 March 2011.

NOTE ADDED 24 MARCH 2011:

See also: "Glenn Beck, Economic Terrorist; The Fox Bully's Crusade Against Progressives Who Want to Fix the Economy is Getting Ridiculous," by Joan Walsh, Salon, 23 March 2011.

This Salon article is remarkable as it supports the economic destruction of the United States, "I certainly endorse Lerner's analysis," and does so in part by using personal attack on those reporting on the imminent economic terrorism, among other techniques used to get people to look the other way.

The personal attack path is not unremarkable.  Indeed here's a story pointing out how Media Matters "resort[ed] to an ad hominen [sic] attack on Beck": "The Sound of Silence: Media Ignores Stephen Lerner's Revolutionary Plan to Bring Down US Economy," by Emily Esfahani Smith, The Blaze, 23 March 2011. (I note this Blaze article, in my opinion, indirectly refers to this SafeLibraries blog post as part of a "handful of opinion blogs" that discussed the Stephen Lerner speech.)

How does his relate to the ALA?  The ALA uses personal attack to smear people as well so as to distract others from the real issues.  For just one example, consider how the ALA labeled every single person who complied with ALA directives to file material reconsideration complaints as censors.

Birds of a feather....

PLG statement on Occupy Wall Street -  10/06/11

The Progressive Librarians Guild supports the initiative of the Occupy Wall Street protest and the movement it has sparked, with manifestations all across the U.S.

We applaud the commitment and creativity being shown in providing a space for the articulation of opposition to the whole apparatus of the one-sided class war against workers, unions, the poor, immigrants, minorities, people of color, women, students and other sectors which make up the vast majority of Americans. We applaud the movement's resistance to the greed,,injustice and inequality which is corroding the fabric of American society  and its desire to imagine and help build a better future ,starting right now , for all Americans, by freeing ourselves from the destructive grip of unaccountable elites , insatiable profiteers and ruthless and cynical corporate plunderers.

We note that the Occupy Wall Street community has seen the need to create a "library" as part of its essential infrastructure even under the very difficult conditions under which the occupation has to operate in the streets. We call upon members of the Progressive Librarians Guild and all librarians of conscience to assist the movement with resources and technical aid. Please support the Occupation movement, document its development and report back to the library community to encourage greater understanding and wider support among our colleagues and in our communities.

PLG Coordinating Committee

Here is a better picture of what these librarians actively support that supposedly Occupy Wall Street "sparked":

Now the ALA can no longer remain silent as the Progressive Librarians Guild has dragged it into the frey with all its violence, hatred, anti-Semitism, anti-capitalism, queer kids kill your parents, etc.  Will the ALA speak out?  I'll wager it will join in.

Oh look, there's AFL-CIO president Richard Trumka visiting the Occupy Wall Street library the Progressive Librarians Guild supports.

If the USA becomes Marxist as a result of what is happening now and everyone suffers as a result or are murdered by the millions as happens in such societies and has already been planned for the USA, the ALA will happily change its name to the MLA and won't mind missing a few million library patrons.
