Antisemitism at American Library Association

Would you allow your public librarians to attend events where people from the United Arab Emirates were intentionally excluded but everyone else was invited?  Of course not.  The American Library Association [ALA] attends such an event.  Only it's Israelis who are excluded.  That's antisemitism and ALA attends that event yearly, so ALA is an antisemitic organization—until it stops supporting hate.

The Sharjah International Book Fair in UAE excludes anyone from Israel—that's antisemitic.  ALA attends this antisemitic event yearly—that's antisemitism.  ALA does this despite years of criticism and has never stood up for human rights in this regard—that's knowingly and purposefully antisemitic.  Its President Loida Garcia-Febo touts "ALA's longstanding commitments with different countries into a Global Library Tour to bring my advocacy campaign, Libraries = Strong Communities, to places such as ... Sharjah International Book Fair...."  ALA's President literally touts antisemitism.  That builds "strong communities"?

Be clear that if an ALA President attended events where Arabs from UAE were excluded, ALA would be labelled as Islamophobic.  So ALA attending events where Jews from Israel are excluded is antisemitic.

"From Local to Global; Bringing Education and Environmental
Tools to Our Communities
," by Loida Garcia-Febo,
American Libraries, September/October 2018, p.4.

Would you keep attending a golf club where you knew women, blacks, gays, or Jews were excluded?  Not unless you were misogynistic, racist, homophobic, or antisemitic.  And would you associate with such a person?  ALA is antisemitic.  (ALA is also homophobic, misogynistic, and racist, but I digress.)

That said, the place for members to sign up on the ALA website does have Israel and does not have Palestine.

ALA President Jim Neal keynotes SIBF15.  Keynote and backdrop
shows how close is the relationship between ALA and SIBF.

American Library Association not only attends, but actively participates, e.g.: "ALA President Loida Garcia-Febo will bring together concepts of libraries of all types as pillars of education and at the intersection of human rights, universal access to information, serving diverse and multiethnic populations, and making your library a welcoming place to all members of the community."  How can she talk about human rights and diversity at an antisemitic conference?

Here is a report from the Executive Director of ALA in 2016 showing how closely ALA is allied with the antisemitic organization, hyperlinks in original:
Librarians from across the Persian Gulf, Middle East, and North Africa (MENA) gathered at the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) November 8–10 for the third annual SIBF/American Library Association Conference.  The conference is ALA's most ambitious international professional development event, supporting ALA's global theme, "Partnering to build stronger libraries worldwide."  Approximately 350 librarians took part in three days of programs, training, and networking in both Arabic and English, with translation provided.  [ALA President] Julie Todaro and Miguel Figueroa provided keynotes.  You can find out more in the member release about the conference or American Libraries' Scoop.  Plans are already underway for the 2017 event.  [Source 1, Source 2]
The number of American librarians attending the annual antisemitic event is staggering.  Use of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to uncover how much their communities paid or are paying for them to support antisemitism may be beneficial.  Those communities may wish to know and may wish to stop funding hate.

ALA MEMBERS KNOW ALA IS ANTISEMITIC:

ALA does make an effort to show it is not antisemitic, for example, "In the Shadow of Pittsburgh: Intellectual Freedom to Defend the Jewish People," by Emily Schneider, Intellectual Freedom Blog, 12 November 2018.  But that is only to give ALA cover to perpetuate "the resistance": "the overwhelming inundation of hateful words and actions which have been seemingly encouraged by the presidency of Donald Trump and the subsequent empowerment of white supremacist, anti-LGBTQ, and specifically anti-Semitic groups."

Nevertheless, the publication goes on confirm antisemitism at ALA, hyperlink in original:
Even more troubling is the virtual absence of Jewish concerns on ALSC's blog. When I searched under "Jewish," as well as "antisemitism," to check if I had missed any past blog entries that would concede the existence of Jews as readers, I came up with nothing but some incidental references to characters and a discussion about holiday decorations in libraries. A parallel search of "Islam" at [sic] did produce some recommendations for books that would make Muslim children feel welcome and understood.
....
If librarians and other advocates for an inclusive and activist approach to literacy are afraid to discuss antisemitism as a deep-rooted and dangerous blight on society, one that is both related to other forms of hatred, and also uniquely menacing to the Jewish people, we have a problem that needs to be addressed.
And the author doesn't even mention ALA's efforts to fund and promote Islam in American libraries: "Bridging Cultures Bookshelf: Muslim Journeys."

EVEN BANNED BOOKS WEEK IS INFECTED BY ALA COVERING FOR TERROR:

Even Banned Books Week is infected by American Library Association's covering for terror.
  • In one case, ALA librarians gleefully brag about censorship of "No Go Zones" by Raheem Kassam, see "'No Go Zones' Censored; Banned Books Week Hoax Strikes Again," and
  • in another case ALA is happy to announce how the terrorist organization called CAIR for Counsel of American Islamic Relations successfully campaigned to removed a book.
Yet notice how Banned Books Week fails to name either of these books.  So Banned Books Week excludes ALA's own censorship of books ALA's own librarians don't like for political reasons.

CONCLUSION:

There is no other way to look at America Library Association's repeat attendance at antisemitic events, let alone its past history of antisemitic behavior as referenced below.  It's antisemitism.  If you or I engaged in this behavior, that's what we'd be called, antisemitic.  ALA is antisemitic.  I'll rejoin ALA when it stops attending antisemitic events, etc.

ALA Promotes Red-Green Alliance and Is a Leftist Anti-War Group Supporting Radical Islamist Terror

The American Library Association promotes the Red-Green alliance?  Is it a leftist "anti-war" group supporting radical Islamist terror?  Do libraries censor out the politically incorrect and promote the opposite?  I advise, you surmise:
As Osama Bin Laden himself noted: "The interests of Muslims and the interests of the socialists coincide in the war against the crusaders."

    ....

The groups listed here are all listed at Discover the Networks as leftist "anti-war" groups with radical agendas and appear as signatories on a recent letter authored by one of the groups, the ACLU, protesting the hearings on radicalization.  Though these organizations do not focus solely on an 'anti-war' agenda, they are lead players in the so-called "anti-war" movement, paving the way for smaller groups that make all the noise, like Code Pink.

    ....

Librarians?  You betcha.  The American Library Association (ALA) is the "oldest and largest library association in the world" with 61,043 members in America and abroad.  The ALA is anti-Israel, opposes the Patriot Act and actively works against anti-terrorism measures.

    ....

While refusing to acknowledge any threat from within the Muslim community, ALA has falsely accused Israel of destruction of "Palestinian" libraries, and even reserves the right to make such false accusations despite proof that they are false.  In the view of the ALA, then, Islamists are above scrutiny while Israel may be blamed even for good intentions.

    ....

If you are providing support for your local library, you may want to check to see if they are supporting ALA.  Your money could be used by this organization to undermine America’s efforts to prevent terrorism.

Having read that, get a load of this eye opener on library censorship.  The author comments on the Lisa Graas post quoted above then adds revealing information about library censorship:
This hit home because my late mother was an ALA member, and saw which way the organization was heading.  When I googled my mother's name with the ALA, I found two local publications of the Boston chapter, one announcing her initial employment by the Boston Public Library, and the second announcing her transfer to a different branch.

My mother was a big supporter of local libraries and was forever advocating for our local suburb to build a good public library - which they did long after my brother and I could have benefited from it.  But for the last 25 years or so of her career, she was employed at a local community college, where she was constantly spending money from her own pocket to buy books that gave a more balanced view on Israel to counteract her radical Leftist boss who was constantly buying pro-'Palestinian' books using the library's budget.

I've mentioned before on this blog that both my parents were (and my father still is) knee0jerk Democratic voters.  But the ALA is obviously much more radical since my parents were Democrats but were (and my father still is) strongly pro-Israel.  I guess Mom's boss was much more in line with the librarians' thinking.

    /sigh

Read the whole thing.  (Yes, the rest of it is just as exhaustively researched).

Given what I just wrote about the ALA ("ALA Joins CAIR to Oppose Radicalization Hearings Sponsored by Congressman Pete King"), I believe the material presented above about the ALA is largely accurate.  However, some of the support for certain statements is a little dated and does not include more recent information, like the George Soros money flooding into the ALA.  I do not know about the remaining non-ALA subject matter.

    See also Librarians For Fairness.

What do you think?  Does the ALA promote the Red-Green alliance?  Is it a leftist "anti-war" group supporting radical Islamist terror, as Lisa reports?  Do you think libraries buy materials they support politically and censor out those they do not, as Carl reports?  Do you think the ALA includes books having "a more balanced view on Israel" being kept out of libraries in its Banned Books Week hoax?  Please comment below.

"If you are providing support for your local library, you may want to check to see if they are supporting ALA.  Your money could be used by this organization to undermine America’s efforts to prevent terrorism."

Will ALA Oppose Iraqi Censorship of Jews and Otherwise Live Up to its Proclaimed Support for Cultural Resources Worldwide?

The American Library Association [ALA] is hereby challenged to speak out against Iraqi censorship of Jews and the destruction of Iraqi cultural resources.  If one wonders why the ALA would do that, it has already supported protecting "Palestinian libraries and cultural institutions," and passed a resolution declaring it "deplores the destruction of ... cultural resources anywhere in the world...."

Let's see if the ALA means what it says.  I challenge the ALA to publicly "deplore" what the Iraqi government is doing to wipe out the existence of Jewish culture from Iraq.  In Iraq, "local authorities have already began erasing Hebrew inscriptions off Ezekiel’s tomb in order to turn the site into a mosque."  Presumably, those are the inscriptions pictured above.

Here is a head start for the ALA to consider:

Will the ALA speak out against this censorship, this destruction of worldwide cultural resources?  I challenge it to do so, though ALA leadership sides with the terrorists.

What do you think the ALA will do?  If the ALA refuses to respond (and it monitors my posts), will this be another double standard?  Antisemitism?  Please comment below.

"Mr. Alfassa says that Iraq’s Antiquities & Heritage Authority 'has been pressured by Islamists to historically cleanse all evidence of a Jewish connection to Iraq – a land where Jews had lived for over a thousand years before the advent of Islam.'" Hey ALA! Are you going to speak out against this? Or is "censorship" only your concern when adults try to keep inappropriate material from children?

    The ALA Supports Terrorists

In yet another example showing how and why the American Library Association [ALA] supports terrorists and should lose its 501(c)(3) tax exempt status for political actions having nothing to do with American libraries, please see "ALA Responsible for Every Society on Earth!," by Annoyed Librarian, Library Journal, 29 January 2009.

    Sample quotes:
    • If you, for example, think that the American Library Association shouldn't take stands on political issues that have nothing to do with American libraries, the regressive librarians start attacking you as a "conservative" or "fascist" or whatever other nonsense pops into their heads.
    • Councilors who voted for these things were either as willing to have the ALA look like a ridiculous mouthpiece for blowhards as the regressive librarians or they were so beaten down by the constant badgering of the regressives that they caved in just to shut them up. Either way, the ALA looks silly.
    • From the report, we can see the real interest: "changing the policies of the US government." That's what we need to do to "achieve peace." How is this relevant? Oh yeah, to prevent the destruction of all those libraries in Gaza. Are there any American libraries in Gaza? Somehow I don't think so, but then again no one really cares about that. What really matters is opposing Israel, and all this talk of libraries is just a red herring.
    • It's good to know that the ALA not only has "social responsibilities" for American society, but for every society in the world, except Cuba of course.
    • However, it's eminently clear this has absolutely nothing to do with American libraries or the ALA's alleged "social responsibilities" and everything to do with the regressive librarians getting the ALA Council to be a mouthpiece for their politics. If they tried to pass a resolution against Hamas firing rockets into Israel (which might destroy libraries, after all) or refusing to recognize Israel's right to exist (which also exacerbates conflict), I'd be shocked speechless, but would still be opposed. But we all know that won't happen.
